Blue Plasma Text Photoshop Tutorial

Step 1

Let's start out by creating a new file. I used a 600x140 pixels canvas set at 72dpi, and I filled my background with a white color. Now create a new layer set and name it 'Text Effect'. Then select the Horizontal Type Tool and set the font family to Franklin Gothic Heavy, 20 pt, strong and #00E4FF color shade. In a new text layer type the name you want to add a text effect on.

Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Drop Shadow, Inner Glow and Gradient Overlay blending options to your text layer.

Step 3

In a new text layer add your name in black color shade.

Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add an Inner Shadow, Inner Glow and Pattern Overlay blending options to your black text layer. Then set the layer's blending mode to Lighten.

With all that blending options added to your black text layer from step four your name should have this effect:

Duplicate your 'Text Effect' layer set then go to Layer > Merge layer set. You should now have a new layer with the text design, move this layer below the original layer set on the layers palette.

Now go to Image > Adjustments > Invert. Then move the red text design down a little to make a 3D effect.

Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Pattern Overlay blending option to your red text design layer.
